Teeth Whitening & Restorations

Teeth Whitening & Restorations

Restoration of teeth pertains to the building up or improvement of the biologic, mechanical and aesthetic form of teeth.

Decayed, chipped, broken, fractured, discoloured teeth that are aesthetically, structurally and functionally compromised will need some form of restorative treatment.

The different ways to restore teeth are:

Fillings

We use white fillings usually composite or glass ionomers.

Veneers

A way of changing the facial side of teeth to alter the size, shape, colour, texture, alignment and spacing of teeth to a certain degree. Veneers can be done using composites or ceramics.

Crowns

This is when the whole surface of a tooth will be covered or capped. Crowns are processed outside the patient’s mouth. The material we may use can be ceramic, zirconia, gold or porcelain fused to metal. It is either cemented or bonded to the tooth. Some of the most common indications for a crown are when a tooth is extensively damaged, cracked, or had been root canal treated.

Bleaching & Teeth Whitening

Prior to bleaching,  teeth need to be properly assessed for suitability. Custom trays are made for the patient and a home kit is provided for use.
